Tristan's story
When I joined RTL’s French radio family in 1998, I never imagined that I’d still be working for the Group almost 10 years later! The late 1990s were crazy years on the Internet and most of my friends stayed no longer than 1 or 2 years in their job, regarding loyalty to a company as an ‘old-fashioned’ concept!

There is no one, single reason why I am loyal to RTL Group – there are many!
The first of these is the family spirit I felt as soon as I joined. Shared enthusiasm for the professional goal I was set proved helpful at every stage of the project. I’ve never been left unsupported and my management has always shown faith in me and given me a lot of autonomy. Good examples of the family spirit that exists here are the RTL Group Creative Circles and the Bertelsmann University experiences, both being helpful programmes for boosting individuals’ creativity and potential within the Group.

The second reason I stayed was the challenging goal assigned to me, namely to set up from scratch a research subsidiary called Mediapanel to help the Group’s radio stations in France devise their editorial and music policies. Budgeting, human resources and product strategy were just some of the key areas where I was given the freedom to make major commitments on the company’s behalf.

The third reason is probably the most important one: I’ve never felt at all bored in my work! I’ve been given so many different responsibilities within the Group, from advising radio station about programmes to developing an entirely new subsidiary and finally, today, managing the radio family’s 5 websites together with a team of 25 people colleagues working with me on a daily basis.

So the way things are going, I’d have nothing against staying here for another 10 years!
